The college is situated at Kumminiparamba in Kondotti, 6 KMs away from Calicut Universiyt, 2 KMs from Calicut International Airport, 18 KMs from Feroke Railway Station, and 32 KMs from Calicut City; with a congenial atmosphere for academic pursuits. The place is ideally suited for the growth and development of educational institutions for higher learning.

    The institution aims at the over all development of this backward area of Kerala by opening new vistas of opportunities to the future generations, without any discrimination against caste, creed, sex or colour. The college is run by Ernad Muslim Educational Association, which was formed with the objective of establishing a chain of educational institutions and cultural centres to cater to the needs of educationally and culturally backward section of the community. The college is a stepping stone to realize the objectives envisaged by the Association. Established on 1st November 1982 as a junior college, it flourished as a post graduate college today.

Hisotry Of Kondotty

The history of Kondotty is connected with that of the 18th century Kondotty Thangals, the Sufi exponents. Tipu Sultan of Mysore brought the first Thangal Muhammad Shah, to bring the Mappilas on his side. The Thangal first resided at Areekode and later settled in Kondotty. When the British arrived, putting an end to the reign of Tipu Sultan, the Thangal switched sides and joined the British. Hence, during the 1921 upsurge, the Mappila mob attacked the house of the seventh Thangal, Nasiruddin Shah. Nediyiruppu is a place 2 km from Kondotty. It is from where the Zamorin kingdom was expanded. During the ancient times, Zamorins were known as Neiyiruppu Swaroopams.

The finest exponent of Mappila Pattu, Moyin Kutty Vaidyar (1851-91) was born in Ottuppara, near Kondotty. His Badr-ul-Muneer-Husn-ul-Jamal, the earliest romantic piece in Mappilappattu, is praised for its craft.

Kondotty Nercha is a weeklong festival in March. The Nercha is conducted in Pazhayangadi Mosque of Kondotty, constructed in the 18th century AD. The tomb of Mohammed shah the Sufi exponent, is close to the mosque. It was constructed in Mughal style. The nercha has an inter-religious expression in its ‘Petty Varavu’. Thousands gather during the nercha, which assumes carnival proportion with hectic trade and amusements. This mosque, believed to date back to the 18th century is popularly known as Pazhayangadi and is associated with the Muslim Saint, Muhammed Shah, famous as Kondotty Thangal. Thousands of devotees attend the religious procession and fairs held during the festival.

It is popularly known as Pazhayangadi and is associated with the Muslim Saint, Muhammed Shah, famous as Kondotty Thangal. The festival Valiya Nercha (The Great Vow), a week-long festival in March. Thousands of devotees attend the religious procession and fairs held during the festival.
